The milking parlour is the area where cows are milked. There are two primary milking systems: milking machines and voluntary milking systems. The first, present in 9 out of 10 farms, requires the presence of the breeder during milking. The second operates automatically when cows decide to give milk.
Cows are protected from stress when milking hours are regular, when they are in a quiet space and when breeders give the animals special care and attention.
